From Team MiRketti:
Well done on the tourney. Are you still taking any shots at the $10 NL 6 max
games, or are you waiting until you have a bankroll to cover playing 4 tables of
$10?
Great job with the blog. It's helped me a lot with my transition to
cash games, in figuring out what goals I need to set, as well as making me
strive to try to keep up with you on my bankroll building.
First off thank you very much. Secondly, no I am not taking any shots. If I were playing full ring then I would be playing $10NL with 25 buy-ins, but 6 max is so much more swingy I won't play $10NL with less than 40 buy-ins for the level and then if that drops to 30 buy-ins I will drop back down again as needed and as often as needed.
If my writing this blog helps one person such as yourself I think that's absolutely awesome. I have added your blog to my blog list so keep those updates coming. I look very forward to reading about your successes.
Now for today.
When I say 6 max is swingy today's action showed this ten fold. I was all over the place in the cash games in regards to profits and losses going from up $11 to down ($3), to up $5, to down ($6), to all the way to down just under ($10). I was getting hit hard by donks and what made it even worse was I was right on my online reads at least 90% of the time. Like when my opponent went all-in on the flop and I knew he had a flush draw only, and naturally he hits the flush. In fact I had so many opponents hitting flushes on me today I lost count. In 3 and a half hours I had logged 1053 hands and was down ($11.48). Holy shit we're talking nearly a 6 buy-in swing. It was gonna be a long night as I planned on playing cash games till at least 10pm, another 3 hours of this. Variance where are you? Get your butt back here. Took a small break and had a much needed cigarette. Came back and fired up 4 new tables.
This night was going to drive me to fkn drink. I managed to pick up a full buy-in back and then on a board of 5534 with 2 clubs when I am holding 67c some donk shoves the turn with A4 and this piece of trash hits a river 4. Yes I already know i want these players at my table playing like this, but for Christ sake how many times will these scumbags get lucky time after time after time. It just gets so frustrating. I ended the night after 1455 hands and a ($9.57) loss. Also busted out of the Stud tournament fairly quickly tonight.
So 7828 hands played this month, but profits after tonight's loss of only $11.78. Decided, even though there weren't many hands played, to do my first PT analysis of 2013. The only conclusion I was able to come to is there are too few hands to come to any conclusions. There is one area of small pairs in EP I will cut back on and I am definitely having problems on the button when I see the flop but there is much bad luck involved in these limited hands. Flopped sets getting beat losing with a full house, so for now I will not let it be of any concern.
Play well.

ReplyDeleteLOL funny.
H just found your blog today and enjoy the read. I'm just getting back into the grind game and starting at the 10nl 6max ring games. 6 buy in swings are nothing to be worried about and you should expect to have much bigger swings than this.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck.
