More Reasonable Yearly Goals

The problem with writing a blog like this is I come up with plans and goals and at the time they seem quite doable. It's there in writing for all to see, but then when I realize I was wrong or mistaken about what I wrote previously, I look like a freakin idiot, lol.  Oh well, we learn from our experiences and life is such, that changes are unavoidable and those that do not adapt to those changes and do what is within their limits without over reaching are the ones that will fail in their goals.  If you will notice the 29013 goals have changed and been lowered to what I believe is more reasonable and most importantly, achievable.

With my work schedule ever changing, and days where the pain is so excruciating I am just unable to do anything but sleep and find some escape from it, I have to realize that I have limitations.  I may not like it, but it's a fact.  Basing on what I was able to accomplish in 2011 I realized that with the outside influences against me, so to speak, I was able to put in 20,000 hands in a single month.  I accomplished that previously and since I have done so it's the number I should base the yearly goals on that and what more I can also be satisfied if these lower goals are met and I have a much better chance of accomplishing those goals.

With that said, as you can see on the right side of this blog hands played for the year has been reduced to 240,000.  I am no longer expecting to make it to $25NL before the year's end, but if I accomplish the goals set forth that should happen very very early in 2014.  The 240.000 number is based on getting in 20,000 hands a month which is something I did in fact accomplish during 2011 once or twice.  This is an overall average of only 658 hands per day.  Even with the outside influences I should be able to accomplish that.  Since I am sending home the tournament profits only cash game profits will be added to the bankroll and for 2013 I expect those profits to be $750 which should give me a bankroll at year's end of $1000 minimum.  My sports betting will come from the cash game bankroll, but I will not be doing any sports betting until football season starts up again and I will only be spending $5 a week on pro football and perhaps another $5 a week college football, but that's many months away before I will be indulging in that.  I do not know enough about football and basketball to indulge in those sports and if they do baseball, well too many games per week to do that so I will stick with $5-$10 per week when football season starts up again.

So even with the new updated goals I go into today's action still 4731 hands behind schedule for January and the new year, but that can be made up.  The cash game session today started out poorly as I dropped a bit over a buy-in in the first 386 hands.  Missing flops was all too common to start things off today.  As you all know I 4 table the 6 max games and at one point on 3 of those 4 tables I had AK, KK, and AK on three of the tables at the same time.  Both AK hands I whiffed and got the continuation bet called and the KK hand they folded to the continuation bet.  Arggggh.

Sometimes these donk players and their luck I am forced to endure makes me want to physically vomit.  Get QQ, one limper, I raise, get reraised, the limper calls and I call.  The reraiser was a very very tight player.  On the turn the jerk limper shoves his last $1.11 and I snap call.  The original raiser folded.  Asshole has A8o.  Remember he called a reraise preflop.  There was no 8 nor an ace on this board.  He hits an ace on the river.  Give me a fkn break.  These donks make me sick, but part od this was my own fault.  After 407 hand I was down ($5.57).  One of my tables I had dropped ($5.91).  It was.......................... table 13.  Son of a bitch!!!!  I did not notice this when I fired up my tables.  Now laugh if you will but table 13 is an unlucky table number.  This is not the first time table number 13 has hit me hard, but I am usually careful enough not to get on that table number.  You may think I am just being superstitious, but like I said, this is not the first time table 13 has hit me hard.  I will not make this same mistake again, no way, no how.  Ok readers, you can stop that laughing now, lol.  I got off table 13 and almost immediately doubled up on one of my tables and after 642 hands I was up $3....... an over 2 buy-in turnaround.  Good riddance table 13.  Took a dinner break for a little over an hour so I could chat with my Sandy on her break and grab something to eat and back to the tables.  Ended up playing 1083 hands tonight for a profit of $4.57.

Wanting to send tournament profits home I need some actual tournament profits.  Been running pretty cold since that nice cash in the PLO/8.  I would like to have at least one tournament I can play on a nightly basis, but the PLO/8 end to late when I need to be up at 430am for work and the 8pm NLH also ends too late.  There is a $5.50 Stud tournament that goes  off at 730pm.  I jumped in 45 minutes late, dumb I know.  Only 36 players top 5 get paid and I finished 10th.  $60 for first $14 for 5th so this might be something to hop onto.  10 minute blinds, but that is the norm for Stud and it seems like it will end early enough.  With rakeback overall tonight was about break even.

And finally the other day..................

The biggest pot I have seen at $4NL.  And best of all................ I was the winner of it!!!!

I tanked awhile before making this call but there was only one hand that beat me that being QJ.  Dodged that nasty ole river beat and the pot was mine!!!

Play well.

  2. Good luck my man!
The fact that you are constantly looking at your goals and updating them is great - instead of realizing that the originals might not be obtainable for whatever reason but leaving them out there to never be reached - that is commendable

  4. There was no 8 nor an ace on this board. He hits an ace on the river.

Yes, that's annoying, but it's what you want him to do. I know you know this, but he got lucky this time, that's all.
