Overdue Post Lots Of Catch Up To Report

A very Merry Christmas to all my readers their friends and families.

Pain.  When you are in constant pain for months and months as I have been with this leg you start to really think that no matter what it takes to stop it, even death, is more preferable.  I have been facing that very thought the last several days.  I have contemplated simply taking a bottle of sleeping pills to forever sleep.  Overdosing on pain meds, just end things permanently.  That's how bad it has been.  Even prayed to God just don't let me wake up tomorrow.  Guess if there is a "big guy upstairs" he has other plans for me cuz I am still here.  I am better today, as the 500mg Tylenol seems to help tremendously as the aspirin and Alieve had stopped being effective.  Taking over 100 Alieve a week is rough on the stomach, but when your in agony on a daily basis you'll take anything and like I said before, even ending things permanently is a viable option.  On a scale of 1-10 most days the pain level is 12 or 15.  I'm still here though and so far today is a pretty good day pain wise.   Maybe its Gods way of telling me I have greater things in store for you now hit those tables lol.  :-)

There has been no poker played the last several days as my online roll was held somewhere between here and non existence.  For those of you not aware Hero Poker shut down and will be joining a new network after the new year, but apparently for them to leave Merge, they had to agree not to take their players with them as those of us on Hero were given the choice of Carbon, Sportsbook, and Players Only in which to have out account balances transferred to, all 3 of these being on the Merge network.  It took them 4 days to accomplish this task, but last night I found my $308.82 on Carbon Poker.  There are subtle differences to the 2 sites.  No more rakeback unless I email them and ask for it, but after exploring the VIP program at Carbon I am balancing what would be better...... rakeback or VIP rewards.

Carbon gives a daily 6% cash back on VIP points and under their first VIP tier there is unlimited $3 rebates for every 500 points.  So lets say at $4NL I could earn 1000 points a month, and remember I am less than $100 away from $10NL so that could be happening very soon, but for now we will go with 1000 points a month for $4NL.  Their points rebate works out to 60 cents for every 100 points as the example they give on their site is $60 for 10,000 points, but they pay this daily so you don't have to wait for 10,000 points.  With just these two things alone I would receive $6 in VIP rebates and another $6 in cash exchange for $12 a month.  For a full month of poker I got about $20 in rakeback so one would think that to be the better option, but as you climb the VIP level the rewards increase and if you get high enough then the VIP outdoes rakeback easily to the tune of 45% for the cash exchange alone.  It is for this reason I am going to go with the VIP rewards instead of rakeback.  The key to getting the most of this is volume, volume, volume.  Hands played will dictate how high the rewards are.  So, to that end, I am going to attempt to get in 1500 hands a day on average.  Not sure if I will be able to do it or not, but January is right around the corner so we shall see how it goes.  Figure a few days I don't play I am hoping to average 10,000 hands a week and 40,000 a month.

January Goals:

6 Max

Hands:  40,000
Earn Rate:  4bb/100
Earnings:   $64
Bonuses:   $10

Tournaments

Played:   8
ROI:   23%
Earnings:   $10

Sports Betting

IF Done Show A Profit Plain And Simple

To explain these goals as I stated before volume is going to get me the best cash back and as I have switched to 4 tabling while I play 6 max if I play a tournament then I have to utilize one of the cash game tables for this purpose.  Tournaments will be limited.  To me the hands played each day are far more important.  Tournaments will be played, but on days/nights where I don't work the following day because then even if I use one of those cash tables for a tournament, I will not be under time restraints and can play a longer cash session to get those hands played in.  With that said I could get eight $5.50s in a month as the $5.50 guaranteed prize pool are the only ones I play these days and that's why the goal earnings are so low although it is a ROI in excess of 20%.

Sports betting.  Something I have never done before except for the football cards we used to get from the bookmakers years ago uhhhh the real ones not the online site that you youngsters may only know about, lol.  Carbon has sports betting and I am thinking I might give it a try.  I placed a few bets then canceled them just to see what the payoff would be as it tells you.  This looks easy.  All I have to do for instance, is pick 3 teams, have them win by the point spread, and for this they give me $6???   6-1 on my money???  Totally cool.  How hard can that be?  By the way any of you sports bettors out there that can help drop me a comment or two.  If it says -110 I understand this to mean if I bet $1 I get my dollar back plus another 90 cents.  Is this correct?

Poker New Year's Resolutions:

1)   Use only Poker Tracker 4 and learn all its functions
2)   Keep detailed records on tournaments, their buy-ins, and type of game for the whole year
3)   Keep all databases in Poker Tracker for the entire year
4)   Do not delete databases in a fit of a temper tantrum
5)  Win 15 buy-ins each month for whatever stakes I may be playing.  If mixing stakes 7.5 each
6)  Bankroll at $2000 or more on December 31, 2013

Well that's it for now.  Need to upload verification documents to Carbon, but will wait until January 2nd to do that.  Seems with them you have a choice of cashier's check or gift card for your withdrawal so i like the thought of not needing to deal with the bank and a check when I do withdraw.  Gonna hit the tables by 4pm like i do on any day I am working.  Want to see if I can get those 1500 hands in between 4-10.  Take care one and all and I hope you and your loved ones are having a very Merry Christmas.

Play well.

  1. It means you have to bet (for example) $1.10 to win $1.00 which isn't quite the same.

    Merry Christmas to you, too.

  3. A three team parlay means your chance of winning is 1 in 8 but they pay you 6 to 1 if you hit. Stick to very small bets or do a two team parlay instead. Good Luck!

  4. Another + for the VIP on carbon is that you earn more VIP points, helping you to clear bonuses faster if you use reload bonuses.

  5. Wow -- sorry to hear that the pain has been so bad. Are you getting any help for dealing with the pain you've been having? I mean some type of counseling assistance to help you cope with everything?
