A Full Session..........Just About

As I got started on my poker day today I began the day with the bankroll hovering just under the $300 mark at $296 and change and for the first time in longer than I can remember the pain in the leg and ankle was actually under control.  In fact the way I was feeling, though there was pain as that is a daily thing for me, I was ready for a full 1000 minimum hand session, maybe more.

6 max is a wild massively swingy experience day in and day out.  That was obvious that first day when I dropped 9 buy-ins in a session before recouping more than half of it.  Today early on this was no different.  Within the first 170 hands I was up half a buy-in and then down ($3.49).  My KK vs JJ who flopped a set.  After 235 hands played the loss was at ($6.08) when I lost a big pot, relatively speaking for the stakes I play, with QQ and only 13 hands later I pick up over a full buy-in back with flopped trips and a turned full house and then within the next 40 hands I get stacked on a table yet again with KK that went down in flames but on a different table I stacked a Villain and after 288 hands I was down a buck.  Took my first break of the session with 705 hands played and down ($2.76) at that point.

Got back to the tables, played just 161 hands and was down ($6.35) for the session.  Tonight has just been ludicrous in bad beats.  3 outted on the river not once, but twice when I had two different short stackers all-in.  Flopped a boat and lost.  Lost ($14.45) with KK and QQ.  What???  Are you fkn serious!!!  It was amazing I was only down $6.  I opened up the starting range, but won't know until at least 5000 hands whether that's good or bad.

Had enough of this crap for one night.  Gonna watch some Monday Night Football.

Play well.

  1. FD, the swings playing 6 max are crazy and sometimes unbelievable. The suck outs are hard to swallow at times.

  2. The major issue I have within my own mind is should I try and extract value or should I go for the takedown. Extracting value can lead to suckouts while a takedown can leave money on the table and it does not seem to matter the opponent i am facing, TAGs or LAGs, while their starting hand selection may differ, their decision making postdlop seems constant.

As an example, say I am dealt KK, I raise preflop get one caller. 34 cents in the pot as we go to the flop. Flop comes say T27 but with 2 hearts. Now it's this type of situation that is difficult. I come out with a pot size bet, but if Villain has 2 hearts he is calling, TAG or LAG no difference. If Villain has top pair on that flop say with AT he is calling with 5 outs possible to nail me. So when he calls the flop bet and the turn is a safe card at this point is it another pot size bet? 3/4?? or a shove. Should I just shove the flop and take it down right then and there? I have been burned so many times extracting value, but shoving so quick just makes me think there was so much more I could have and should have in my stack. It's definitely a quandry.
